We recently bought a mobile home to help our son get started on his own after he got himself back on his feet and has been clean and sober for a year. This home is on a rented lot in a very small rural setting park in a very small community.
One would think that the rules would be fairly lax in such a place and it is true for the most part. The landlord has the most ridiculous rule about pets. I have a small dog and of course, he is like family to me now. Barking is ok, no problems there, but my tiny dog is not allowed outside at all, at any time, EVER. Not even to be taken for a walk. Not to leave the trailer to go in the car with us. Once inside, he must remain there until we leave the park.
We have agreed to this request because we plan to be in the park for 6 months or less as we are looking to purchase property to move the home onto. My husband and I do not expect to live with our son for long as we have our own home and once the trailer is set up on an acreage we intend to build a new home for ourselves on it.
The landlord is, of course, allowed to have his rules and we will abide by them but I think this one is so silly. He says the reason is that it will attract coyotes and other dogs. He may be right, but I see no coyote problem in other neighborhoods and mobile home parks with dogs.
